Black and white
Everyone has the
right to dream. You can dream of finding your one true love
in time,
Dream of world peace or to end a life of crime.
Many may wish to reach for the stars or to see and visualize
things from afar.
Even a dream of standing solid on one’s own two feet
Can be a dream. There is no dream that should be discreet
As they should be treated with honest greet.
I have a dream
too. A simple dream for a couple with pure visions,
To be accepted for their devoted & mutual affection
And not to be primarily judged by their differences in
tradition
I might not understand Burma’s cultures,
But I’ve acknowledged that we are of the same nature.
I believe we can all endure this respect,
As your ritual I will not neglect.
An old wise man once said
“Treat each other equal and treat others in the same
aspect
as how you’d want to be treated”.
I see your true color shining through with each grace
Of your tender touch to my face
And I feel your love for me from within.
Your skin is black my skin is white,
But our hearts are of the same red highlight.
And just having you beside me
I know that this love is right
I came from the
north of Vietnam and you originated from the south of Burma.
But does it really matter?
I don’t understand much about your Water Festival in
April,
To celebrate the beginning of another year as it is
something new.
You may not know why we give out red pockets on new
years,
For many more cheers or a brighter career.
I don’t know why different countries do different
things,
But you can always learn
And I can always learn.
Our cultures were made to differ
But it’s the faith, beliefs & customs that make the
image of our hearts pure
There is no difference in this aspect
I believe that love is like a dove
Pure in importance deep within our souls
If is crucial, then why’d the skin shade
Be vital in our choice of mate?
At the end
of the day
It will only be fair to say,
That the most important thing
Is that we are all human beings.
But it’s the things we fail to believe,
Fail to accept are the things we can never to achieve.
Look into his heart and to look into my heart
And just save the slightest intention to believe,
That we are no different in Mother Nature’s creation.
We’re no different when the light goes out,
This is when words speak aloud
And the strength of two hearts beating is all that
it’s about,
Not the colour of your skin type.
I have a dream. My dream is for the world to see
things in black and white
And to realize,
That even though we are not of the same shade,
A couple we were still made
I have my
right
To my skin colour of white
And my soul mate, of who is darker in shade
I am proud and he is proud
And we speak aloud.
That the real qualities in a person, is skin deep
And this may be a great leap
For someone who cannot see all the things I wish that
they could see.
Though I might never understand his fear or hear
His call from across my bedroom wall
And I might not know why he is so fierce.
All I know is that he is here
And that it’s truly clear,
We are two of two kinds but with one heart.
We've defied the odds to keep our love from falling
apart.
Is it not true that our gods from above
Created us human beings to love?
They made us tall to short dark to light,
And this is a sign
That racism is not right.
It would only diminished the light
Between an isolated future and one that’s bright.
My soul mate
is like the fire that burns your skin.
But to me he is warmth, to my coldest moments from
within.
I am like the ice that solidifies your mind into a
cold mess,
But to him I cool his heart in times of stress.
The heavens brought us together and a couple was made.
And this gift I will not hide
Even if the world laughs and mocks at our backside.
I will smile at them with all do respect,
As confused as I imagine, they may not expect
Such deeds
But it’s a sign of my greatest sympathy.
One can only hope to love and find true love in return
with no greed.
There is no mystery; it’s just an expression of my
discovery.
Because it is I who had found true love, sent to me
from above.
And my dream is for the world to see the things in
black and white
And to captured the strength as to why this love is
still alive.
Some days when
I’d hold your hand walking on the street,
People would stare as they turn their feet.
With such disgrace showing through their eyes,
I know that they have not yet accepted you and I.
But why can’t they see that you’re a human being too,
You cry as I’d cry when our hearts are in sorrow.
Instead they’d look at us with horror
And their eyes speak out
Screaming at me “he’s in a different crowd!”
You’re Vietnamese and his Burmese! I’d say so, why
should I feel low?
Your love for me is true
And all that matters is that I love you too.
My dream is to share with the world
The good things in life, that come in two shades.
At first I felt afraid
Nervous at what others would say.
But now I know that I shouldn’t be shameful to show my
face with your face.
As my pride being with you lies in my heart,
And shows through the smile from my lips
Each time your hands hold around my hip.
There are many
obstacles in life
There’s no easy way out of it, so make the best of it as you
survive.
Everyone has the right to dream, from the young to the old,
With hair on their head or just plain bold.
Your dream can be as simple as seeing your baby child
Walk by you for a while,
Or trained an army of mice to dance holding a dice.
My dream I’ve brought it one step further to reality
By letting you and I be seen together.
I dream that the world would reach out between the lines
And see the good things that come in black and white. |
