My Dream

In Vietnam, an average poor family consists of at least six people.  These poor families have to share meals for two people between all of them because they do not have money.  They work  for around two dollars a day that they cannot afford most necessities in life, nor can they afford accessories like new clothes, which to us is a necessity.

Some families are so poor that the husband and wife only have one set of clothing and when one person goes out of the house, the other stays naked inside a thin piece of material known as a ‘blanket’ in the small bedroom.  Some live in houses made out of mud which is a big problem when the rains come down causing illnesses and injuries such as colds and influenza and sometimes even worse.  These families not only can afford enough food, they cannot pay for a good supper when one is sick.  I know this from my own personal experiences from when I had visited Vietnam last year, and had seen these poor families myself and felt that I could not do anything to help.

It is my dream to prevent further unwanted deaths and to save lives.  To some people it is not an important issue but to me it is, because hundreds of thousands of poor people have died because they could not afford treatment by a doctor.  It is not their fault they are poor.  I cannot get this suffering out of my mind.  These unnecessary deaths should be stopped.  Someone should help these people.  I dream that I will be one who helps in some way.  I dream of becoming a doctor, of helping people who are dying largely because they are penniless.  Money should not be the cause of death.  And in my dream I overcome the obstacles to help people and save lives.  For in my dream money is not a problem.  I in my dream get the best reward of all, the chance to do something worthwhile and happiness.  I also dream of becoming a successful doctor to repay my Mum and Dad for the sacrifices they have made for me throughout the years of bringing me up to become the person I dream of.

These people deserve a chance in life and I am willing to give those I can that chance for free, after I become a doctor.  I will be willing to give up my time and money to save these people because I have been presented with so many opportunities.  Everyone should have a chance in life.  We are presented with opportunities in life and sometimes we just take them for granted, while so many poor people don’t even have any opportunities at all.  They just scratch a living out of what they can do including being servants, or even prostitutes.  Although street prostitution is illegal in Australia, it is common throughout Asia especially Vietnam.

These prostitutes throw their lives away because they have no other choices. Many girls do it because of their family, because their family is poor and needs the money and they see prostitution as a fast and easy way or even the only way to make money and help their family. This is wrong, and should be stopped, they are just causing more deaths in the world because sleeping with so many men just causes them to develop sexually transmitted diseases and spread them to the next man they sleep with, causing more deaths and the loss of more innocent lives. After all, AIDS is an incurable disease.

It is my dream to try and stop this and to be as good as I can be and help as many people as possible, I shall certainly try to achieve this. I do not wish to be praised or honoured because of this achievement because I just want to help people so every time I go to sleep and close my eyes I know that I have done my part in the world and I’ll be able to smile to myself. It is my dream to become a good doctor, do my best and reach my fullest potential not to become a singer or actor or someone famous because I want to help people survive in the world.

I may not be the next Victor Chang but I believe that helping people must provide the greatest joy in the world. We do not need more actors or singers, to me it seems that these people are just accessories in life and are just entertaining us, they are not actually achieving anything but instead helping themselves to have fame and fortune. Although it is just normal to think about yourself in life, I feel that if I become a doctor I am really succeeding in life and am gaining the respect I need while saving lives.

Each individual has their own values, and must believe in themselves if they hope to become something or someone. Every one has the potential to go far, but only if they try and put their heart to it will they succeed. And to those who are not presented with these opportunities, it is up to us to help them with the opportunities they need.

To achieve this goal and make this dream come true, I have to believe in myself and tell myself that I can do it. Becoming a doctor is very important to me and I hope that I can go all the way with this dream. Helping and saving lives is a great deed and becoming a doctor helps provide me with what I need to help people while being successful and making my parents proud of me at the same time. I believe that if I put my heart to this thought I could one day become o doctor and not just say or write these things, but actually do it and achieve these goals and make my dreams come true!
