Peering through the tinted glass window and over towards the horizon as Life presses down on the accelerator, all you can do is hold your breathe and wait, for a brief moment it seems that time holds still and all that stands between you and your dream is a feather. Your dream is positioned dead straight in front of you, you’re so close you can feel the exhilaration your body is producing, your dream is so close you can reach out and touch it… almost. Life presses down even harder your eyes, the moment of truth is here… wait… one more time… but alas, your dream has disappeared… again! So close, yet not close enough. You were set upon by yet another fork in the road; Life turns to you and asks…” where to turn now?”

Everyone has a dream in life. Whether it is obtaining a good career, owning an expensive car, a Round-the-World holiday or even finding their soul mate, people cannot live or reside without having their heart striving towards a dream. Dreams are what make us human. Dreams are what make and create happiness and joy.

A dream is where strength and integrity is found, a dream is where heroes are born, and a dream is where anyone can do what their heart desires.

Without dream how could anyone ever desire to wake up in the morning and embrace the sunshine in their lives, how would anyone find the will power to live, to love, and to learn?

As children across the world prepare themselves each morning for school they dream and fantasise about their futures. They play dress ups and role play anything their heart yearns for, knowing deep in themselves that one day that dream will be a reality.

Children obtain more knowledge and are wiser than many adults who lose sight of their dreams, whether it is because of ridicule or simply because of self-doubt. Anything is possible, the only limitations are the ones you put on yourself.

My dream was long forgotten before this day. When I was younger I dreamt of travelling the world, seeing everything, from The Pyramids to Mt Everest. I dreamt of being a journalist and being paid to see the beautiful things this World has to offer.

I dreamt of meeting exotic people and tasting diverse foods.

I dreamt of being the happiest person in the World.

I dreamt so much that I had convinced myself that that was going to be my future, no matter what.

When I became older I began to become more aware of Political and Social Conflicts here and around the World.

I began to see to ugly, hideous things people did to one another, abusing themselves and each other because of the greed, and power they lusted for.

I began to see things around the World that angered me. Animals being poached and mistreated so much they were on the brink of extinction.

I began to see the abuse of power and wealth in full-blown colour. I saw wealthy Business-people making millions by the hour, while millions of children around the World were dying from starvation by the hour.

I began to lose sight of my dream; I began to face reality and decided that perhaps the World wasn’t as beautiful and harmonic as I had once dreamt.

I thought that possibly my dream had reached is full potential and would never be more than just a dream.

One day I started thinking, what was going to be my dream now that I realised my previous dream was just a dream?

That’s about the time I started thinking… perhaps instead of judging and seeing all the negative things there are in the World, I’d make my dream be to help make a difference, I’d make my whole life revolve around making people aware of what was going on in the World and how they can lend a hand.

I knew I wouldn’t be able to save the whole World, I knew I wouldn’t be able to save millions, but if I was able to save one life, to teach one child how to take care of Earth or make a difference to someone’s life, my dream truly would be complete. Knowing I made a difference to the World, no matter how small, was what I wanted to do.

Today I still hold the same dream in my heart and I know… one day I will complete it. In conclusion I’d like to add one small quote: “People change, life changes, the world around you changes, but don’t ever lose sight of your dream, your dream is the most valuable thing you will ever own and to lose it would mean your spirit would truly be poor.
