My Dream
A Writing Competition For High School Students
in the Fairfield and Liverpool Area, Sydney, Australia

Brittney Mobbs - Consolation Prize

It was so very strange the other night it was so cold, wet and different, I had this dream, it was my dream come to think of it, it may have been the very first dream I have ever had. It all started when this small tiny, gold, brown haired fairy appeared on my windowsill and said to me “I can take you to a place that no one in this very large world has ever been to before in his or her life”. The small, tiny, brown haired fairy took me by my medium sized hand and put me on its tiny back and we flew away [with me on its back]. When I got there I realised it was like heaven. It was just how I imagined another world to be. First of all there was a castle and it was made of big bright yellow sunflowers and they were some of the brightest things I had ever seen in my long life, and on a really sunny day you cant tell the difference between them and the bright golden sun. And you now how on earth we have cars, bus, trains and trucks in this imaginary land there are big white fluffy clouds to take you to the places that you want to go to. If you want the white fluffy clouds to come and pick you up all you have to do is whistle and the clouds come flying in from nowhere right to your door step and you jump on and away you go to where you want to go. But one of the best things about the land I went to was the shop. There were thousands of them. One of my favourites is the ice cream parlour there are so many different flavours chocolate, strawberry and vanilla to start off [and already your mouth is watering] pizza, rice and chicken drum sticks are some of the more complicated ones. There were also some great shoe and clothes stores. The best shoe shop was called “shoes galore” and they sold every single kind of shoe you could ever imagine, high healed, sandals, thongs, and even glass slippers. Most of the clothes shops was very expensive, but they sold some of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life. But the absolute very best thing in this world of mine is that there is no fighting. The people in this excellent world do not fight about anything. Every one gets along with everyone and they even agree that children should not have to go to school. Then the tiny golden fairy bought me back to earth. I climbed in my very small window and fell back in to a deep sleep for the rest of the night in my large bed.

The next morning when I woke up with a small jump, I realised that I much preferred the other world, the imaginary world rather than the one we live in today. It was not because of the wonderful ice cream parlour or the excellent ice cream flavours and not because of the excellent shoe shops or because of the brilliant clothes and it was not because there was no school. It was because of the peace. It was because there was no fighting or arguing and I realised that world peace is one of my dreams for the whole world, for the future. I wish that the whole world got along with one another and that all humans had the same rights. I wish this because every one deserves to have a fair chance in life. It does not matter wether you are black, blue, white or green you have all been created equal, and we are human beings and have been put on the same earth. And just because people may not look exactly the same or do not have the same background it does not mean we should not go near those people or that those people will give us germs it means we are all unique and special. Even though we may not have the same religion as someone else or the same colour hair, eyes or skin as some one else we are all unique and different. We have been put this earth to cooperate as one and to live as one in the community. We have not been put here to fight or argue not even to think we are better than other countries, religions or nationalities.

One of the other things that I would love for the world in the future is that all people have equal opportunities. This basically means that I wish that all those people who live on the streets or in poverty or even those people who live in less fortunate countries than Australia have the same chances of becoming what they want to become as we do. I also wish that all those people who live on the streets had an opportunity to buy a house and be like any average Australian.

The third thing I dream about for the future is that that the Scientist and Doctors of Australia and the world find a cure for all childhood and adulthood diseases such as cancer, leukemia and maybe even find a cure for eating disorders. I hope this so that all of the people in this world can live in happiness and so they are not scared of catching cancer or hereditary diseases. So that everyone can have a long and enjoyable life without a fear of dying from something that can not be helped.

I wish that in the future we could be like my “PERFECT” world. Not exactly like it, but in some ways. Like how they live in peace and harmony, I think if we all lived in peace and harmony our world would be a better place for our generation and for the generations to come.  I know this seems like a lot to ask but there is no harm in dreaming.
